Course description

During this course, all the skills that are needed to administer First Aid adequately to children and adults are learned. The trainee learns how to take a person to safety, assess their condition, and alert the emergency services, and what to do for a very wide range of conditions including (Pediatric) Basic Life Support and the use of an AED.

The course  consists out of an e-learning (approx 16 hours online) and 8 hours in classroom training.

Under the supervision of a certified Red Cross instructor, the trainee learns how to administer First Aid to someone who is: unresponsive • choking (airway obstruction) • has (severe) bleeding • burns • cuts and grazes • muscle cramp • a torn muscle • a sprain or bruising • a bone fracture • dislocation • poisoning • has been rescued from (near) drowning • has had a stroke • has life-threatening bleeding • neck or spinal injuries • chest pain • (impending) faintness • a (severe) allergic reaction • a (mild) head injury • acute injuries from contact with animals or plants • chest or abdominal injuries • diabetes • epilepsy • childhood illnesses • a bleeding nose • an object in the nose • a tooth out • a tooth through the lip • a finger caught in the door • a splinter • an insect sting • a jellyfish sting • a tick bite • febrile seizures • shortness of breath • hypothermia & hyperthermia • eye injuries • a panic attack/too rapid breathing
