Course description
The goal of this workshop is to create awareness of personal safety and security
risks for students travelling to areas with moderate risks.
This is achieved by:
- Improving awareness and lowering of personal safety risks
- Tips & Tricks for travel (preparation)
- Personal development in dealing with aggression and indicating personal boundaries
Topics
- Risk analysis: what is it and how to write one?
- Personal risk profile: what risks do you bring to the equation?
- Briefing & local security knowledge: how to get your information?
- Crime, health, transport and stay
- Dealing with aggression
- Indicating personal boundaries
Method
During the workshop we use different methods to engage with the students to
ensure active participation and personalisation of the learning experience:
- Interactive sessions in which the level of experience of the student is taken into account
- Graphic facilitating makes it possible to visualise topics and explain the context (pictures, videos and drawings)
- Practical exercises in which risky situations are simulated. Students experience and learn to deal effectively with these situations
